KOB News 4 (Albuquerque, NM) reports that the violence here in Albuquerque, New Mexico, continues to run unabated.

Early Friday morning (9/29/2023), a group of vandals destroyed several fast-food drive-thru windows in Albuquerque’s North Valley, including Bob’s Burgers at 4th Street and Montano Road.  Surveillance video showed at least two men smashing the drive-thru window with rocks and climbing through the opening in an effort to steal the cash register before security alarms scared them away.

Vandals also smashed the drive-through windows at nearby Dunkin Donuts and Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurants, along with unconfirmed reports of additional nearby break-ins.

Early this morning (9/30/2023), the Albuquerque Police Department (“APD”) shut down a stretch of Central Avenue in Nob Hill following reports of a shooting last night.  The APD blocked off Central Avenue between Girard Boulevard and Richmond Avenue.  There is one person is custody.  No further information is available at this time.

My brothers and sisters, Pastor Moede has reported for years on the increasing and seemingly never ending rash of violence in Albuquerque and elsewhere in New Mexico!

Crime results, at least in part, when persons have lost their moral compass, their hope, the ability to love others, and a sense of belonging – such as in a loving family or church.  Misplaced trust results in choosing the things of this world instead of the goodness of God!  The wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.  Sadly, the trickery and deceit of the evil one has captured the hearts of so many of our young men and women.

If a person doesn’t feel loved and lives day-to-day without the love of God shaping their thoughts and actions, it’s next to impossible to walk in love with others.  The lonely and the hurting operate from a position of selfishness and often anger – never seeing themselves or others as children of God created to love, worship and depend upon His goodness.

Going to church and fellowshipping with other believers is probably the last thing on the minds of many of our youth.

Let’s pray for all of the hurting, destitute, homeless and/or drug addicted men, women and children of God here in New Mexico (and elsewhere).  Let’s speak the blessing of God over our children and youth – praying for their well-being and boldly speaking the truth of the gospel to those who need to hear it!  Let the word of God through the Holy Spirit do the work of touching and changing hearts as we share the undeniable love and mercy of the Lord, which brings forgiveness, true freedom in Christ and eternal life!  Amen!

As mentioned in the title of this article, what’s the answer to the ongoing violence?  The Answer is always Jesus!

1 Peter 5:8 (NKJV)
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

John 3:16-17 (NKJV)
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.'”

John 1:12 (NKJV)
“But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…”.

Praise Jesus forevermore!
