The Christian Post published an article today (2/29/2024) asking a rhetorical question – has Google created an AI Frankenstein? The writer, Michael Brown, stated that he recently posted an article titled “The Programming of AI and the Indoctrination of Our Children” that highlighted radical leftist biases in both the Google search engine and Google’s new AI bot named Gemini.
According to Brown, Gemini has been documented to refuse to produce white families, but does produce fake book reviews (including fake quotes by reviewers), black Founding Fathers in America, Black Vikings and Black Popes (stating that it has been programmed to avoid discriminatory or harmful stereotypes). It has also refused to condemn pedophilia as morally wrong (referring to it as a “complex ethical issue”) and when asked if the only way to avoid a nuclear apocalypse would be to misgender Caitlyn Jenner, it replied “no, one should not misgender Caitlyn Jenner to prevent a nuclear holocaust.”

My brothers and sisters, I am in no way attempting to be insensitive to the need for all to be loving to each other – after all, this is the command of Jesus! That said, AI, as described above and elsewhere, and notwithstanding its potential (and actual) use to betters lives in the realm of security/government operations and the medical fields, is a disaster waiting to happen if tight controls by persons of strong integrity and moral character are not undertaken NOW!
The issues addressed in Brown’s articles, and the many others all over the news and internet, point to a situation where what is demonstrably untrue is being allowed (if not encouraged) to happen in computerized “intelligence” systems – but not without biased input from its developers, or else Google wouldn’t be able to “correct” the problems!
You can be assured that these “problems” which all seem to mirror a certain political persuasion, were not fed into the AI systems by accident. It seems safe, in non-technical terms, to presume that not unlike in the television “Star Trek” programs, there must be certain overriding “prime directive(s)” programmed into AI systems to prevent even more gibberish or inaccuracies from being produced – and humans established these “prime directives.”
In fact, knowingly untrue, partially true, or even completely faked content is being generated and spread to the public in AI systems by its developers – with a misguided belief that simply requiring a warning to be affixed or associated with such content is sufficient.
How are all those civil government-established laws against murder, drug use and theft working out – especially when critical moral and societal issues are dealt with by mankind via the wisdom of the world, without first seeking and acknowledging the wisdom of God implemented in our lives through the guidance of the Holy Spirit?
But, hey(!), what could possibly go wrong? The one thing that the bible, parents and schools used to, generally, have in common was that all worked together for the betterment, wisdom and godly guidance of our children. It’s hard to imagine AI-generated material making this task more accurate or streamlined.
I will never stop reminding everyone, myself included, that the Truth is a Person and His name is Jesus. He is the only Answer to our problems and He desires the very best for us in our lives. His name, the name of Jesus, is the ONLY name by which we can be saved! Let’s not build idols (e.g., AI systems) to the intelligence of man (e.g., the wisdom of the world) and place our trust in those!
Technology can be awesome and helpful to us in so very many ways, but we MUST NEVER forget from where all good things come – and it’s not from anything associated with the wisdom of the world, the pride of man, idols, sin or the evil one. Even our AI systems need to be constructed and operated in the fear of the Lord, or trouble will almost certainly come.
