Faithwire reports that on the heels of Dr. Päivi Räsänen’s court battle, in which the Finnish politician emerged victorious following a protracted legal battle regarding her belief in God’s design for marriage to be a lifetime union between one man and one woman, nearly a quarter of young British people said they would be open to banning the bible if they believed its pages contained “hate speech.”

A recent Whitestone Insights poll of 2,088 adults in the United Kingdom (“UK”) revealed that 23% of persons between the ages of 18 and 34 agreed with the following statement:

“Unless the offending parts can be edited out, books containing what some perceive as hate speech should be banned from general sale, including if necessary religious texts such as the Bible.”

The Christian Broadcasting Network (“CBN”) is also reporting on this matter.  Alliance Defending Freedom UK’s Lois McLatchie recently stated that “[w]e may no longer be a majority Christian population here in Britain.  We need a robust defense of religious freedom from those who craft our legislation, and we need to educate the ‘be kind’ generation on the truly hateful consequences of censorship before this type of thinking creeps further into reality…”.

My brothers and sisters, it’s becoming more and more clear that the evil one’s secular, liberal-minded, LGBTQ+ view of life and society is gaining traction globally, and is affecting the faith walk of many of this generation’s youth.

If the youth represent our future (and they do), then those of us who believe the bible to be the inspired, inerrant word of God and our “instruction manual” for life should be greatly concerned about the growing disdain for biblical truth.  It seems that simply disagreeing with long-established Christian theology is now viewed by many as hurtful or even hateful, and should be considered unlawful.  This is unbelievable, considering that the bible makes it clear that God is love (see 1 John 4:7-8).

As Christians, we know that God never changes and neither will the truth of the scriptures (see Psalm 119:160).  Despite this, the design of God for marriage to be a lifetime union between one man and one woman (see Genesis 2:21-24 and Mark 10:6-9) has increasingly come under assault by civil governments.  LGBTQ+ supporters no longer simply seek to protect those with such views from persecution or disadvantage, but rather, seek to mandate – under penalty of law – the acceptance of this view in society.  The casualty of our times is the truth!

In the United States, one needn’t look beyond the disaffiliations from the United Methodist Church (as only one example) of how the LGBTQ+ agenda has not only impacted secular society, but has begun to dissolve churches with false teaching (see 2 Timothy 4:1-4) and mandates to accept homosexual pastors and doctrine, with a disregard for, or the intentional misinterpretation of, scripture to conform to the community’s view of sexuality.

God’s view of sexual sin is clearly identified in the bible (see 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 and 18).  Like all of the other sins identified in scripture, the LGBTQ+ (homosexual) lifestyle is not of the Lord and is inconsistent with the will of God for our lives.

Let me state right now that all have sinned and have fallen short of the glory of God (see Romans 3:23), including this writer!  The good news, though, is that we all have the promise of salvation with eternal life through faith in Jesus!  Willfully ignoring or distorting the word of God to attempt to justify what God clearly calls sin, does not change God’s mind.

The answer is, was and will always be, Jesus!

Here are the above-referenced scriptures:

1 John 4:7-8 (NKJV)
“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.  He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.”

Psalm 119:160 (NKJV)
“The entirety of Your word is truth, [a]nd every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.”

Genesis 2:21-24 (Amplified Bible)
“So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept, He took one of his ribs and closed up the flesh at that place.  And the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man He made (fashioned, formed) into a woman, and He brought her and presented her to the man.  Then Adam said, ‘This is now bone of my bones, [a]nd flesh of my flesh; [s]he shall be called Woman, [b]ecause she was taken out of Man.’  For this reason a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall be joined to his wife; and they shall become one flesh.”

Mark 10:6-9 (NKJV)
“But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female.  ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’; so then they are no longer two, but one flesh.  Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

2 Timothy 4:1-4 (NKJV)
“I charge you therefore before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at His appearing and His kingdom:  Preach the word!  Be ready in season and out of season.  Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NKJV)
“Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God?  Do not be deceived.  Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”

1 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV)
“Flee sexual immorality.  Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”

Romans 3:23 (NKJV)
“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God…”.

Praise Jesus forevermore!
