I do not know how the Governor intends in enforce the mask mandate. I beleive this is the first time in the history of America that a Governor is requiring the people to wear masks. I wear one in the store when I go out of respect and care for others. Wearing one all the time? Hard to enforce.
It it way past time the the Governor confer with the Republican leadership on all this.
New Mexico is making history in this pandemic. This is the first time Doctors without borders has served in America. Our Native American Brothers and Sisters are suffering much.

Albuquerque, May 12– On Mother’s Day New Mexico State Police served the pastor of New Hope Revival Church in Sierra County with a Cease & Desist order for his House of Worship. The following is a statement from Chairman Steve Pearce about this continued attack on New Mexicans’ rights:
“The State Police C&D order against the church Sunday was just the latest example of how peoples’ rights are being trampled on. This goes beyond a small business being fined unfairly to save lives and livelihoods. The state’s position is now to ignore the notion that our Constitution continues even in a crisis and to infringe upon the civil rights of our citizens and their rights to freely worship. This action is nothing less than government overstepping its bounds and failing to justly and equitably deal with the pandemic across the state.”

House GOP Leader Jim Townsend Questions House Speaker on Governor’s Abuse of Power, How the Special Session will be Conducted, and Stopping the Raid on NM’s Permanent Fund
Artesia, NM – House Republican Leader Jim Townsend sent House Speaker Brian Egolf a three-page letter highlighting three important issues which could greatly impact upcoming special session of the Legislature sometime in June. The letter requested the Speaker take three explicit actions: 1) initiate legislative oversight of an abuse of power by the Governor in spending money she is unauthorized to do so; 2) begin bipartisan consultations immediately how a remote or virtual special session would be conducted; and 3) express the position that no constitutional amendment to raid the Land Grant Permanent Fund would be considered during the special session.
As the COVID-19 pandemic as continued, the Governor has issued several executive orders which call for millions of dollars to be spent from the state treasury, however, only the Legislature has the constitutional authority to spend such large sums. The Governor is only authorized to spend no more than $750,000 per emergency declaration. Rep. Townsend is asking the Legislative Council to review this matter and have this group of legislators take appropriate action to preserve the Legislature’s authority.
Likewise, Leader Townsend questioned Speaker Egolf about alleged media reports that he already has a plan to change House Rules to permit a virtual special session, yet there have been no discussions with House Republican Leadership on the matter. The letter also expressed serious concerns about a proposal offered by the Governor to raid NM’s Land Grant Permanent Fund during the special session to close the budget shortfall. Such action would require passage of a constitutional amendment and such amendments are not permitted during a special session. Leader Townsend asked the Speaker to announce the Legislature will observe this long-time constitutional prohibition.
The lack of communication on such important matters between the House Republicans and Democrat leaders has become increasingly concerning as the shut-down inches its way forward. In addition, the Governor has yet to announce a date for the special session which is needed to address NM’s ongoing economic and budget crisis.
“It has become increasingly clear that the Democrats are circling the wagons and leaving New Mexicans out of the conversations on how government business is done and how we move forward,” said House Republican Leader Jim Townsend, “As elected leaders, we are expected to be transparent and open with the public and unfortunately it seems that there are some leaders who do not want Republicans at the table, much less the public, to create an effective recovery for our state.”

It is very dry here at FGGAM in Albuquerque. Please make sure and deep water your trees and shrubs. We need green in New Mexico! Trees are vital, we are near the top in tree deaths in America. We are in another drought. Please join us in prayer for rain. We still have a wildfire up north near the Colorado border and last week a wildfire broke out near Reserve.
Pray for all the firefighters that risk their lives fighting these wildfires.

The picture is of me and my Dad, Wally Moede. He served faithfully for many years on the Windom, Minnesota Fire Dept. Grandpa Chris Moede did the same in the early 1900’s. My cousin John Moede also served. I served on the Osceola, Indiana Fire Dept. back in the 80’s for 3 years. This picture had to be taken in the early 80’S.
A Fireman’s Glove
A fireman’s gloves hold many things
From elderly arms to a kids broken swing
From the hand they shake and the back they pat
To the tiny claw marks of another treed cat
At 2am they are filled with chrome
From the DUI who was on her way home
And the equipment they use to roll back the dash
From the family she involved in that crash
The brush rakes in spring, that wear the palms out
When the wind does a 90 to fill them with doubt
The thumb of the glove wipes the sweat from the brow
Of the face of a fireman who mutters What Now?
They hold an inch and three quarters flowing one twenty five
So the ones going in, come back alive
When the regulators ring; then there isn’t too much
But the bypass valve they eagerly clutch
The rescue equipment, the ropes, the C collars
The lives they saved never measured in dollars
Are the obvious things a fireman’s gloves hold
Or so that is what I’ve always been told
But there are other things those gloves do touch
Those are the things we all need so much
The hold back the rage on that 3am call
They hold in the fear when you’ve lost the wall
They hold back the pity, agony, sorrow
They hold in the desire to do it tomorrow.
A glove, just a glove till it’s on a firefighter
Who worked all day just to pull an all night’er
And into the fray they charge without fear
At the sound of help they think they hear.
Off comes the gloves when the call is done
And into the pocket until the next run
The hands become lonely and cold for a bit
And even shake just thinking of it
They’re not so brave now; their hands they can’t hind
I guess it just means they are human inside
And though some are paid and others are not
The gloves feel the same when its cold or its hot
To someone you’re helping to just get along
When you fill them with love, you always feel strong
And so when I go on my final big ride
I hope to have my gloves close by my side
To show to St. Peter at the heavenly Gates
Cause as we all know, Firefighters just don’t wait
We are praying for the water problems in Chama, New Mexico to be fixed soon. Sharon and I love Chama, one of the most beautiful spots in the world! Our Dear friend Scott Flury owns the Chama newspaper, The Chama Valley Times, and a I write a monthly devotional for the paper. It is such a blessing to have some ties to my friend and Chama. Scott just got reelected to another term on the Chama Village Council. We are praying for the Mayor and Council and the workers at the water plant and all the residents!
