The Christian Broadcasting Network (“CBN”) reports that the United States and Israel stand at a diplomatic and military crossroads.  Israel says that it must finish the war against Hamas by undertaking operations in Rafah, Gaza.  At the same time, the United States continues to push a two-state Palestinian solution and is now threatening to disallow Israel’s use of United States-provided weapons if Israel launches a military campaign against the Hamas stronghold.

In response to President Biden’s recent State of the Union speech, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told those in attendance at an Israel Defense Forces (“IDF”) graduation ceremony that “[w]hoever tells us not to operate in Rafah, is telling us to lose the war – and that will not happen.”

Netanyahu then quoted Psalm 144:1 saying, “this is what the Psalmist says:  ‘[w]ho trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.’  We are learning the lessons of the fighting and we are planning – with due consideration – the continuation of the war.  In the future, we will learn all the lessons of October 7th.  We will do so openly and fully.  But today we have a clear goal:  achieving total victory in the war.”

My brothers and sisters, this writer is very concerned, yet trusting of God, in the situation within Israel and the United States.  It is beyond remarkable that so many Americans appear to blindly and aggressively support Hamas.  As has been the case since the conclusion of WWII, many or most no longer seem to appreciate that when war becomes necessary, it must be waged with the end game being complete victory.  Prime Minister Netanyahu understands this concept.  To do otherwise is foolish and perpetuates future battles or wars and allows for ongoing societal discord.

No free country, including the United States, would stand for anything near what Hamas has done to the Palestinian people within Gaza.  It’s far too easy and incredibly arrogant for the Biden Administration to presume it has the right or authority to direct another country’s military operations – worse yet, the military of an allied and favored nation.

These are hard truths:

Proverbs 13:20 (NKJV)
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, [b]ut the companion of fools will be destroyed.”

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (Amplified Bible)
A Time for Everything
“There is a season (a time appointed) for everything and a time for every delight and event or purpose under heaven—[a] time to be born and a time to die; [a] time to plant and a time to uproot what is planted.  A time to kill and a time to heal; [a] time to tear down and a time to build up.  A time to weep and a time to laugh; [a] time to mourn and a time to dance.  A time to throw away stones and a time to gather stones; [a] time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing.  A time to search and a time to give up as lost; [a] time to keep and a time to throw away.  A time to tear apart and a time to sew together; [a] time to keep silent and a time to speak.  A time to love and a time to hate; [a] time for war and a time for peace [emphasis mine].”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
