The Telegraph (London, England) reported today that England’s National Health Service (“NHS”) has banned children (<18 years) from receiving prescription puberty blockers under NHS rules which become effective immediately. There are exceptions for those already using them under an existing prescription or as part of a formal clinical trial.
Parliament ministers said that the landmark decision was in children’s best interests and would help to assure that children who feel their gender differs from their biological sex would be treated using medical evidence (as opposed to ideology).
Proposals to end the practice were first accepted by NHS during July 2022, following recommendations by Dr. Hilary Cass, former president of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Child Health, who warned that puberty blocking drugs may permanently disrupt the brain maturation of adolescents, potentially rewiring neural circuits in a way that cannot be reversed. She also stated that there was a lack of long-term evidence and data collection on the safety and effectiveness of such drugs.

My brothers and sisters, there was no obvious discussion regarding the moral underpinning of the Christian faith as part of the NHS’ decision-making process; but, the fact that this practice of violating God’s creation encourages physical changes to children which may never be reversable, increases the potential for future (suicidal) depression and dissatisfaction, and may increase the potential for shortened lifespans, anything that slows this practice down is in-and-of-itself positive news.
Let’s pray that more medical doctors and elected or appointed government officials will take similar common sense steps in the United States to slow down or end the march to societal and medical chaos – with a goal of using actual medical science to make decisions about gender reassignment surgeries and prescribing puberty (or other similarly focused) drugs instead allowing a current political ideology to take thousands of our precious youth down a path from which they may never be able to fully recover on their own or in the world’s medical culture.
This writer is convinced that legitimate medical science will agree with the bible, in that we were made in the image and likeness of God, that He knew us before we were ever formed in our mothers’ wombs, that He has a plan established for our lives that is good, and that He (God) does NOT make mistakes (in matters of gender or otherwise)!
Let’s also pray for the parents (see Proverbs 22:6), who face a near impossible task to speak to the hearts of their confused and hurting children, and that the Lord would give them His words to speak, and a double portion of godly wisdom, courage, patience and strength to see the situation through – to the glory of God.
The bible says that with God, all things are possible (see Matthew 19:26)! The only way to straighten out this LGBTQ(+) gender fluidity situation is for our society (including our elected and appointed governmental officials) to repent, seek Jesus, and ask for the wisdom of God (see 1 Corinthians 3:18-19). And for those children already hurting or physically marred from LGBTQ(+)-related medical procedures, let’s pray that the Lord would speak to their hearts and minds, bringing back family unity and godly wisdom in these matters (see Proverbs 1:8-9, Colossians 3:20 and Proverbs 3:11-12 and 21-26)!

This situation is influenced by the evil one. Let’s be wise and remember that the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God. We should seek the wisdom of God always:

“Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this age, let him become a fool that he may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, ‘He catches the wise in their own craftiness…’”.
It’s sometimes a difficult task, but parents need the strength and wisdom of God to continually train up their children in the ways of Christ, even in the face of great challenges:
