REUTERS reports that King Charles III (75) has been diagnosed with cancer and has postponed public engagements as he undergoes treatment.

The unspecified “form of cancer” was discovered following King Charles’ recent three-night stay in a hospital last month, where he underwent a corrective procedure for a benign and enlarged prostate.  According to a Buckingham Palace representative, “no further details are being shared at this stage, except to confirm that his majesty does not have prostate cancer.”

Although British royals tend to closely guard details of their health, King Charles has been very open about his ongoing cancer treatment.  A Buckingham Palace representative stated that “his majesty has chosen to share his diagnosis to prevent speculation and in the hope it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer.”

As believers, we know that Jesus is our Healer (see Isaiah 53:5 and 1 Peter 2:24)!  We are called by scripture to pray for the sick, and to pray for those in high positions (see 1 Timothy 2:1-3).  May the love, peace, healing and wisdom of God “reign” in the hearts and lives of all who are affected by King Charles’ diagnosis.

It’s true that the British monarchy has certainly had its share of ups and downs recently, with the passing of Queen Elizabeth, King Charles’ ascension to the throne, Princess Kate’s illness and surgery, and the damaged relationship between Prince William and Prince Harry – with Harry having stepped away from royal duties and residing in California; however, the love of Christ in our hearts is not subject to physical constraints and geographical boundaries.

My brothers and sisters, let’s pray for King Charles’ and Princess Kate’s healing and complete recovery, and that even in this time of illness, God would be glorified, with many coming to know the salvation and fullness of life found only in Christ Jesus (see 1 Timothy 2:4-6)!  Amen.

Here are the above-referenced scriptures:

Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
“But He (Jesus) was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; [t]he chastisement for our peace was upon Him, [a]nd by His stripes we are healed.”

1 Peter 2:24 (NKJV)
“…who Himself (Jesus) bore our sins in His own body on the tree (cross), that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.”

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (ESV)
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions [emphasis mine], that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior…”.

1 Timothy 2:4-6 (NKJV)
God Desires All To Be Saved
“[God our Savior] desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all…”.

Praise Jesus forevermore!
