This message by Wes Van Fleet is point on! He speaks to a very troubling issue that I have been seeing take place for many years. It hurts my soul. I see so many Churches struggling. Many are off course. Lights, carpet and other nonsense seems so important to many Pastors. Why is high priority of God’s money on spent in ASTHETICS? Why not spend that on feeding the hungry? Who are they marketing to? Is all this of God? I weep. We live in America where Church attendance is falling and just 4% of Americans have a Biblical Worldview. We are going to hell as a nation. I have been in Christian media for almost 30 years. I have been a Pastor for 15 years. I see it before my eyes, the issue of consumerism is rampant in the American Church. I recently preached at a Church that can seat more than 300 people. Beautiful Church….sadly only 17 members. I witness the downfall. This message by Wes Van Fleet really pushed my hot button as you can tell! I tackle it from many different angles.

Beautiful Christian Life

I love being a pastor. I love being able to preach God’s word and serve his people in so many ways. Yet, over the last ten years in ministry, I have seen an underlying issue in myself, as well as many of the people in the church (not just the one I serve). This is the issue of consumerism.

Consumerism often shows itself when people share with me that they are overwhelmed with church life and need to take a step back. This often means forsaking the regular fellowship with God’s people to seek out some sort of self-realization. The heartbreaking part of watching this repeatedly over the years is the downward spiral that typically follows as people become distant from the worship service and living amongst the people of God. More Here

Here at FGGAM we tackle the tough issues of the Church in America. We mourn the downward trend of the Church.
