For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.

Luke 22:27

The one who sits down and is served is often considered greater than the one doing the serving. But in this Word, Jesus is saying it’s the one who is serving that is greater.

He was humble and kind as He served and met the needs of others.

This should be an example for us as we lead our daily lives. You see, we are called to serve and even though it seems beneath us or maybe it feels lowly, Christ did it with an open heart.

We don’t have to be first, best, smartest, or richest, we only have to live our lives as Christ commands us to.

If you look around  with open hearts, you’ll definitely find someone who is in need. Whatever that need may be, there is always something we can do to help!

Whether it’s prayer, our time or monetary help, we usually have more than enough to present to those in need.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus.

Philippians 2:3-5

“You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”

Galatians 5:13

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.

John 3:19

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:45

Believers are called to live differently, not like the rest of the world. Instead of looking to our own needs, we should look to serve Jesus first, then others above ourselves.

Jesus is the perfect example of this. He came to the world and rather than being served, He himself served others. He showed what true humility and serving was.

May we always reflect His humility and His grace!

Many Blessings,

Connie
