Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year!  There is no better time to worship and sing praises to our Savior, Jesus Christ.  With all there is to be heartbroken about across the globe, we can take comfort in the peace and the love of Christ in our hearts.  Jesus is always faithful!

What a blessing that Jesus’ earthly mother, Mary, understood the importance of the angel Gabriel’s visitation and that she believed his words – this despite the resulting cultural and religious turmoil.  You see, she was a virgin betrothed to Joseph, but not yet married.  Praise God that Mary’s faith was strong, allowing her to give birth to the Savior of the World!

By the way, if you trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the bible says that you are a child of God!

Luke 1:26-38 (NKJV)
Christ’s Birth Announced to Mary
“Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David.  The virgin’s name was Mary.  And having come in, the angel said to her, ‘[r]ejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!’  But when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and considered what manner of greeting this was.  Then the angel said to her, ‘[d]o not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.  And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name Jesus.  He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Highest; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.  And He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.’  Then Mary said to the angel, ‘[h]ow can this be, since I do not know a man?’  And the angel answered and said to her, ‘[t]he Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.  Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived a son in her old age; and this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren.  For with God nothing will be impossible.’  Then Mary said, ‘[b]ehold the maidservant of the Lord!  Let it be to me according to your word[emphasis mine].  And the angel departed from her.”

Luke 2:4-7 (NKJV)
“Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.  So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.  And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.”

Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
“For unto us a Child is born, [u]nto us a Son is given; [a]nd the government will be upon His shoulder.  And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

John 1:12 (NKJV)
“But as many as received Him [Jesus], to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name…”.

FGGAM started this daily series of Christmas songs on December 14, 2023.  I’ll update this article with new Christmas music videos each day until Christmas!

The feature for today is Mary, Did You Know.  The song is so very moving.  Tears flow even as I type and listen.  Can you imagine?  This song features Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd and is recorded on Roger’s 1996 album titled “The Gift.”

I hope you enjoy this video and maybe worship, sing, pray or just listen to Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd’s version of Mary, Did You Know:

Here are the lyrics:

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has come to make you new?
This child that you delivered
Would soon deliver you

Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would calm the storm with His hand?
Did you know that your baby boy
Has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
You’ve kissed the face of God
Mary, did you know?
Mary, did you know?

The blind will see
The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the Lamb

O Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy
Would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your baby boy
Is heaven’s Perfect Lamb?
The sleeping child you’re holding
(He) Is the Great I Am!

Mary Did you know? [Ending]
