One Day One Man

One day when heaven was filled with God’s praises, one day when sin was as black as could be…Jesus came forth to be born of a virgin, dwelt among men…my example is He!

One day they led Him up Calvary’s mountain, one day they nailed Him to die on the tree; suffering anguish, despised and rejected, bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He!

One day they left Him alone in the garden, one day He rested, from suffering free; angels came down o’er His tomb to keep vigil. Hope of the hopeless, my Savoir is He!

One day the grave could conceal Him no longer, one day the stone rolled away from the door; then He arose, over death He had conquered, now is ascended, my Lord evermore!

One day the trumpet will sound for His coming, one day the skies with His glory will shine; wonderful day, my beloved ones bringing! Glorious Savior, this Jesus is mine!

Living He loved me, dying He saved me, buried He carried my sins far away; rising He justified freely forever:  One day he”s coming. Oh glorious day!

These are the words to one of my most cherished hymns.  Only this author could put these words together in this way and tell Jesus’ story as he did.  If you can sing it without crying and feeling each word, I encourage you to read it again.

One day, one man changed the world forever… and showed us the truth of God’s Word.  By coming to us in the flesh, God showed us the compassion He has for this world… even FGGAM, Betty Fritzthough the people (which He created) had mostly turned their backs on Him.  Living He loved us.  Proof of this is found in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.  The shortest verse in the Bible consists of two words found in John 11:35  Jesus wept.

Dying He saved us… by taking the guilt of our sin upon Himself.  Rising He justified; made it possible for us to come boldly to God the Father and ask forgiveness.  One day He’s coming!   When we finally get to meet Him and have “no less days to sing His praise than when we first begun!

Most of us feel this time of rejoicing isn’t far away.  But the glory of it dims a bit with the knowledge that so many are not aware of, or concerned about , the consequences of denying the truth and refusing to ask Jesus into their hearts.

God has called many of His saints home just recently.  We lose loved ones every day by one tragedy or another.  This makes it even more important that we continue on with the one job He left us to do…Go ye therefore…and keep telling the story…our own story of how He has worked in our lives and the glory we have witnessed.  Then we can happily sing:  One day He’s coming. Oh glorious day!
