KRQE News 13 (Albuquerque, NM) is reporting that a man was shot today during a protest outside of a Rio Arriba County building in Española, where officials had planned to place a statue of Juan de Oñate.
Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Major Lorenzo Aguilar reports the suspect, Ryan Martinez (23), has been apprehended and is in custody. There is no update at this time regarding the identity or condition of the shooting victim.
New Mexico State Police are assisting the Rio Arriba County Sheriff’s Office in the shooting investigation.
