I have been telling Sharon it is going to be a long, hot, dry summer in New Mexico. I already see trees dying. As many of you know I am a gardener. If you have tress and bushes , you better start deep root watering them, I hope your not to late. Albuquerque is suffering much tree death. Many trees and vegetation are surrounded by rock, that heats up the temperature. Be aware. We need trees!

SILVER CITY, N.M. — A wildfire is burning about 7 miles north of Silver City. It has been named the Rico Fire.

Residents north of Bear Creek Cabins are being evacuated by local law enforcement. Officials say people can head to the evacuation center at the Grant County Business and Conference center at 3031 Highway 180 E.
