REUTERS is reporting that Russia launched its biggest swarm of drones for months against Ukraine today, which is the eve of Russia’s Victory Day holiday celebrated each year on May 9th in recognition of Russia’s defeat of Nazi Germany during WWII.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said that Russia fired 60 Iranian-made kamikaze drones at Ukrainian targets – including 36 targeting the capital.

It’s so very sad, my brothers and sisters, how political posturing and pride on the part of Russian President Vladimir Putin continue to push him to engage in this evil and murderous war against a sovereign nation.
Let’s not allow the protracted nature of this situation to dull our moral sense of truth and humanity, as this war continues to directly affect millions, kill thousands upon thousands, and destroy the livelihoods, cities and homes of the men, women and children of Ukraine. Russia is solely responsible for the acts that will require the rebuilding of Ukraine, including many of its cities and infrastructure.
Let’s also not forget Russia’s past, including the Berlin Wall and a protracted cold war with the United States (“US”) following WWII – including the US lives lost and millions of dollars spent to bring down the former Soviet Union.
In this writer’s view, it would be a severe mistake to allow emotion and political division to cause the US and other non-totalitarian countries around the globe to relent in support of Ukraine, as Russia’s actions include alleged war crimes and reckless threats to use nuclear weapons against other nations.
Rewarding President Putin with a war victory in Ukraine would almost certainly result in more lawless fighting and death in the future, if not an outright “hot war” between the US and other free countries to prevent future Russian aggression.
