KOB 4 News (Albuquerque, New Mexico) reported yesterday that an International District business owner shot and killed an unidentified burglar early Saturday morning.  The suspect tunneled through the exterior wall of a smoke shop located on Zuni Road SE near San Mateo Boulevard SE.

The smoke shop had not even opened up for business, yet according to the store’s owner, this was already the second attempted break in or robbery!  The Albuquerque Police Department (“APD”) has reportedly classified the shooting as a justifiable homicide (allowable self defense).

The KOB 4 News story may be read HERE.

My brothers and sisters, this story serves as an example of what seems to be happening on a regular basis here in Albuquerque.  Despite the APD’s and Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (“FBI”) reports of a downward trend for rape and vehicular theft in recent years, crime continues to harm the city’s reputation, growth and family-friendliness.  Murder, theft, vandalism and drug-related crimes still populate all of the local news reports daily.

This writer, sadly, hears gunfire so frequently now near his own home, that he doesn’t even bother calling the APD anymore.

New Mexico is a beautiful place that has been afflicted by violence and evil.  With current governmental policies encouraging and even funding the killing of unborn babies through abortion and establishing the growth, sale and “recreational” use of marijuana (among other issues), is it any wonder that the evil one has gained a foothold that needs to be uprooted and removed?

The Answer is and will always be, Jesus!  Let’s be sure to lift up our beautiful state and cities to the Lord, seeking His will in our lives, communities and government.  We bind the plans and schemes of the evil one, who exists to steal, kill and destroy, and we loose the love of Christ in our hearts and communities – in the name of Jesus!

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Matthew 18:18 (NKJV)
“Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

John 10:10 (ESV)
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.  I [Jesus] came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
