An atmospheric river continues to impact California, bringing heavy rain and snow to the state. The heaviest rain is falling in southeastern California near Essex and the central part of the state just to the east of California State Route 99 in Merced and Chowchilla. Rain also spread to downtown Los Angeles as of Friday evening, also spreading as far south as San Diego and to the Mexico border into Tijuana. The largest snow bands are across the eastern part of the state including the northern part of Lake Tahoe and stretching southward near Mammoth Lakes. More Here

12 Found Dead in Snowed-In Southern California’s San Bernardino County, Residents Seek Answers

A lack of preparedness and communication — San Bernardino County, California, residents pointed out both factors to AccuWeather as the source of their frustration outside of just the snow.

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said Thursday that at least one death was weather-related, but the other 11 were not considered storm-related and that all found bodies are awaiting autopsies.

“So far, we can only confirm [one], a traffic accident, as weather-related,” Gloria Huerta, spokesperson with the Sheriff’s Department, told AccuWeather. “The preliminary information in the other deaths does not indicate they are weather-related, but those investigations are ongoing.” More Here
