Are We Nearing Tribulation’s Edge?

Mankind has always been a violent lot. Since the fall of Adam, it wasn’t long before the first murder occurred between two of their sons. In fact, over the next roughly two thousand years, man became so violent that the bible says God regretted the creation of man.

Fast forward to today, and we see wars and rumors of wars. Jesus warned that even when we see such things, the end is not yet come.

While I would prefer to focus on happier topics, such as the cuteness of my grandchildren, I feel obligated to point out the biblical reason for what we see happening in our country and world and what it portends for the body of Christ.

It is my opinion that we are very near the time of the tribulation or what I have been calling tribulation’s edge. The apostle Paul and Jesus both made it clear that the time of the tribulation will not come until the lawless one or anti-Christ sits in the temple of God, so we’re not there just yet.

However, we can observe a realignment of society to the conditions described in several key scriptures.

See if this sounds like a description of today:

But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! -2 Timothy 3:1-5

And doesn’t this sound like what we’re seeing develop in the last few years as people fall away from the church:

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness. -2 Thessalonians 2:9-12

I can pull from so many scriptures to make the point that we are growing ever nearer to the last days but consider world government action that is setting the stage for the four horsemen as world leaders are actively trying to reduce worldwide food availability, overthrow governments, and set up dictators for life.

Consider also the sins that are being promoted as moral good as described in Revelation 9:

And they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries(drugs) or their sexual immorality or their thefts. -Revelation 9:21

Aren’t these the contentious issues of today? Murders include abortion, assisted suicide, and not giving murderers the required justice. Drugs are very much behind the violence we see today, even in the home of the Speaker of the House. Sexual immorality is rampant in all its forms. Finally, thefts from individuals to socialism and communism.

The scripture makes clear that believers can understand the times we live in and not be overtaken as a thief in the night. We don’t need to set any dates, we just need to check the oil in our lamps and not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
