Happy Labor Day Weekend…
Good morning beautiful people, good morning. I wanted to title my post this morning a grandma with wings, but I wanted to wish you all a very happy Labor Day Weekend. This year this weekend was different for me. For the past seven years I have held Healing Waters Women’s Conferences on this long weekend. This year, I packed three of my grandsons in my small little Buick and headed for the beach. To everything there is a season…
I desired to have many teaching moments with my grandsons about the power of prayer. Our day trip turned into going further down the beautiful state of Maine and needing a hotel room for the night. Everything was booked in every direction, everywhere. I asked the boys to join me in prayer and believe God would provide.
We started north after a late night at the beach, the rides and all the arcade games they wanted to play. We stopped in the states Capital, the city of Augusta to check a few hotels there. The first man told this tired grandma they were all full. We went a little further down the road and that’s where God answered our prayer. As we stood in line in the lobby of the hotel, my oldest grandson and I were chatting with people. That’s when it all began to unfold. At a little after 1:00 AM the hotels computer crashed. We all talked a little more as we waited for the man behind the desk to call for help. I decided after more time passed, I better jump to the front of the line to inquire if there were any availability, as we had another four hours to drive. Packed out, the man said, as one guy and my grandson discussed Gibson guitars behind me. We said good-bye to our new found friends and decided to drive on.
As I started my car, one man came out and said we want to give you, our room. We live a short distance away and you have a longer drive, he told us. I said, no thanks at first, but they insisted. They asked the nice man behind the desk with the computer trouble to transfer the room to my credit card and to give me all the same discounts. Needless to say, more than the computer crashed that night, we all did too. God had answered our prayer.
I prayed for the three of them before I closed my eyes that early morning, asking God to bless those beautiful people. As God would have it, I had given them one of my cards as we talked in the lobby about who we all were. I prayed I would hear from them again, as I thought about their act of kindness towards me and my grandchildren.
This morning, the email arrived, and I am blessed again, as I lift their prayer needs before a big God that answers prayer.
Let’s Pray:
Father, thank you for being a God that answers prayer. Father, you see every need today all across this globe. There is nothing that escapes your watchful eye.
Father, we pray healing for your people. May the God that performs miracles touch every reader, every listener, every viewer as they lift up their requests before our God, the founder of both heaven and earth.
Father, we join faith for one another this morning, this Labor Day, as we wait on you, the God that hears, the God that sees and the God that loves us. Amen.
