Former Harvest Bible Chapel (HBC) mega-church pastor James MacDonald‘s son and former HBC Executive Pastor Luke MacDonald held his new church plant’s first worship service this past Sunday at the Chez Hotel in Arlington Heights, Illinois. James MacDonald was fired in 2019 from HBC for “engaging in conduct that the elders believe is contrary and harmful to the best interests of the church,” which was announced after a lengthy review.

RZIM spokesperson: “Effective immediately, we are also discontinuing the use of ‘The Zacharias Institute’ brand.”

Ravi Zacharias International Ministries intends to change the name of the organization following the release of an investigative report last month indicating that the Christian apologist was accused of “sexting, unwanted touching, spiritual abuse, and rape.”

In a statement Saturday, RZIM CEO and Zacharias’ daughter, Sarah Davis, provided what she described as the first of periodic updates highlighting the “steps we are taking as we seek to walk a path of repentance, restitution, learning, and serving.”
