Good points made her by Pastor Tom!

The headline of an interesting newsletter I read is this: “Whichever side wins in November, Americans could Lose.” The writer actually would remove the word, “could.”
When one combines the views of the two sides in our country, one gets a full dose of negativity. The Left believes that if Trump wins, our country will descend into a Hitler-esque Fascist Dictatorship. The Right believes that if Biden wins, our country will descend into a Venezuelan Socialist Quagmire. And both sides call you stupid and/or evil if you don’t agree with them fully.
I would be truly depressed, if it weren’t for my trust in the truth of Scripture. The final book of Scripture (Revelation) makes this clear: Heaven will include people of all ethnicities, social standings, and both genders, because in Christ there is neither “Jew nor Greek, male or female, slave nor free, all are one in Christ Jesus.” And they will join together in worship of the “King of Kings and Lord of Lords”, namely Jesus Christ. And when that happens there will be no more tears or sorrow or death, something that both sides can look forward to in Christ.
I trust in this because God is sovereign over history: Psalm 29:10-11 “The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever. The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.” You can’t say that about either Joe Biden or Donald Trump nor anyone who supports them.
The election may not go the way I wish it would. But if that happens, and the worst happens to the country I truly love, what I trust in ultimately is this: The Kingdom of God,” will not be shaken. Because God has saved me by His grace, though undeserved, and made me a subject of His Kingdom, I cannot be shaken either. Join me in placing your trust not in any man or woman, but in our Sovereign God.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
