SO VERY SAD! COVID-19 Fallout: 210 Restaurants Have Permanently Closed in New Mexico

My heart breaks at this news…..just think of all the lives turned upside down. Small business owners are the back bone of New Mexico. We will be praying over this….We weep for all these business owners and their employees…….

The fallout of COVID-19 is going to be with us for a long time as it has turned the lives of so many people upside down. Decisions that have been made and will be made by the state and federal governments will have ramifications for a long time, good or bad.

More than 200 NM restaurants forced to close due to fallout from COVID-19

This is one of my favorite verses in the Bible….I always say that life is one big prayer……I pray with about very breath I take…….

Just under 3 million Americans made initial unemployment claims last week, bringing the total number of newly unemployed workers to more than 36 million since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
An estimated 40% of people in households making under $40K have lost their jobs, reflecting the toll of the economic crisis on low-income families.
Many states across the country continue to plan gradual reopenings, each with their own approach.

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people. Ephesians 6:18

From David Christenson who writes for God here at FGGAM:

Lots of people have been talking and posting on social media about having a “new normal” so this has prompted my response.

A “new normal” isn’t something new to anyone who has lived very long. We’ve all gone though multiple “new normal” times. It has happened when we start walking, start talking, start going to school. A “new normal” happened when we got engaged, got married, became a parent and then possibly a grandparent.

A “new normal” isn’t something to fear. It quite likely has given us something to cherish. Yes, a “new normal” might be that we cannot do something we used to be able to do. This “new normal” might be a health issue. I know this to be true in my own life. I’ve had so many changes with a “new normal” that others haven’t had and you probably have had a “new normal” that I haven’t experienced. That’s called life.

When I was run over by a tractor before I turned age 6, I had a “new normal” that included having to learn to walk again. I got over it; I got though it.

Surviving a Widowmaker heart attack at age 39 gave me a “new normal” again. I got over it; I got through it.

After the hit and run car incident, another “new normal” was in my life. I am still working through it and realized that all the other “new normals” are the same way. I never finished getting through them. They had become my everyday life, something that was in the past of my present day life. There was uncertainty with each “new normal” I experienced. There was also some fear to admit to. And through it all, each day strengthened my faith in God. Each day of that “new normal” taught me more of how to pray.

Today we can look at this “new normal” and when that sun comes up we can decide if we are to cower in fear or embrace the moment. I hope and pray you enjoy your day because I will enjoy mine.

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. So, it doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up, you’d better be ready. – George Allen

From Yesterday:

Here we go into the next phase, we continue to pray for the good health of all!

I do not know how the Governor intends in enforce the mask mandate. I beleive this is the first time in the history of America that a Governor is requiring the people to wear masks. I wear one in the store when I go out of respect and care for others. Wearing one all the time? Hard to enforce.

In the meantime, abortion clinics are open, still murdering God’s babies……….no protection for babies? Governor I plead with you in the love of Jesus, please close all abortion clinics here in New Mexico. If we are going to be required to wear a mask…how about protection for babies? They are the most innocent. Governor, we are so very upside down on this issue in this state. Please stop the murdering of God’s precious babies. When I say we are praying for the good health for all, I also mean babies. I weep at the murdering of babies. God is not happy about this.

It it way past time the the Governor confer with the Republican leadership on all this.

New Mexico is making history in this pandemic. This is the first time Doctors without borders has served in America. Our Native American Brothers and Sisters are suffering much.

We are praying for the good health of all! Our heart breaks for all of our Native American Brothers and Sisters.

Republican Party of New Mexico Chairman Steve Pearce’s Statement On State Police Issuing Cease And Desist Order on Sierra County Church

Albuquerque, May 12– On Mother’s Day New Mexico State Police served the pastor of New Hope Revival Church in Sierra County with a Cease & Desist order for his House of Worship. The following is a statement from Chairman Steve Pearce about this continued attack on New Mexicans’ rights:

“The State Police C&D order against the church Sunday was just the latest example of how peoples’ rights are being trampled on. This goes beyond a small business being fined unfairly to save lives and livelihoods. The state’s position is now to ignore the notion that our Constitution continues even in a crisis and to infringe upon the civil rights of our citizens and their rights to freely worship. This action is nothing less than government overstepping its bounds and failing to justly and equitably deal with the pandemic across the state.”

Governor’s new order allows some businesses to reopen, requires New Mexicans to wear masks

From my Dear Freind Pastor Randall Floyd at the Clayton, NM Assemblies of God:
Randall Floyd

Ok, lots of posts expressing disagreement with a great deal of what the governor has “mandated” for Phase I of reopening the state – but the question that must be asked AND answered is this: what person and/or body/committee/department has the LEGAL authority to overturn and invalidate the parts of this “mandate” that are detrimental to the citizens of this state? And please, do not respond with the answer “we the people”. It’s apparent that it’s really not that simple. There MUST be a “checks and balance” somewhere in our state law that can override the worst parts of this “mandate” legally, while preserving that parts that really are in the best interest of everyone.

Q: I hear so much about prayer today in America but see little result. Does this really work? — D.P.

A: Today the world is being carried on a rushing torrent that is sweeping out of control. Only one power is available to redeem the course of events, and that is the power of prayer. Someone once said that “it is probable that a nation cannot keep its freedom without the aid of Almighty God.”

Today our nation has the highest standard of living in the world, and yet we’re in danger of leaving God out of our lives. In our nation, from the top to the bottom, we need a spiritual awakening, a spiritual renewal that reaches even to the capital of the country. Unless world leaders turn to God in prayer, their best plans will fail.

If millions of us would avail ourselves of the privilege of prayer, the course of events could be changed.

How quickly and carelessly we pray. Snatches of memorized verses are hastily spoken in the morning, then we rush through the day, closing with a few petitions at night before going to bed.

The Bible tells us to “pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:17-18). This should be the motto of every follower of Jesus Christ. Never stop praying no matter how dark or how hopeless it may seem.

The most vital prayer is asking, “God, be merciful to me a sinner!” (Luke 18:13). Asking the Lord to forgive our sin leads to transformed lives, making us new people. He will do it now in every life that submits to Him, and new horizons of spiritual victory will add a new dimension to life.

More News:

FGGAM MEDIA CENTER just received this news release:

House GOP Leader Jim Townsend Questions House Speaker on Governor’s Abuse of Power, How the Special Session will be Conducted, and Stopping the Raid on NM’s Permanent Fund

Artesia, NM – House Republican Leader Jim Townsend sent House Speaker Brian Egolf a three-page letter highlighting three important issues which could greatly impact upcoming special session of the Legislature sometime in June.  The letter requested the Speaker take three explicit actions: 1) initiate legislative oversight of an abuse of power by the Governor in spending money she is unauthorized to do so; 2) begin bipartisan consultations immediately how a remote or virtual special session would be conducted; and 3) express the position that no constitutional amendment to raid the Land Grant Permanent Fund would be considered during the special session.

As the COVID-19 pandemic as continued, the Governor has issued several executive orders which call for millions of dollars to be spent from the state treasury, however, only the Legislature has the constitutional authority to spend such large sums.  The Governor is only authorized to spend no more than $750,000 per emergency declaration. Rep. Townsend is asking the Legislative Council to review this matter and have this group of legislators take appropriate action to preserve the Legislature’s authority.

Likewise, Leader Townsend questioned Speaker Egolf about alleged media reports that he already has a plan to change House Rules to permit a virtual special session, yet there have been no discussions with House Republican Leadership on the matter.  The letter also expressed serious concerns about a proposal offered by the Governor to raid NM’s Land Grant Permanent Fund during the special session to close the budget shortfall.  Such action would require passage of a constitutional amendment and such amendments are not permitted during a special session.  Leader Townsend asked the Speaker to announce the Legislature will observe this long-time constitutional prohibition.

The lack of communication on such important matters between the House Republicans and Democrat leaders has become increasingly concerning as the shut-down inches its way forward.  In addition, the Governor has yet to announce a date for the special session which is needed to address NM’s ongoing economic and budget crisis.

“It has become increasingly clear that the Democrats are circling the wagons and leaving New Mexicans out of the conversations on how government business is done and how we move forward,” said House Republican Leader Jim Townsend, “As elected leaders, we are expected to be transparent and open with the public and unfortunately it seems that there are some leaders who do not want Republicans at the table, much less the public, to create an effective recovery for our state.”

Team Jesus Pray for Rain!

It is very dry here at FGGAM in Albuquerque. Please make sure and deep water your trees and shrubs. We need green in New Mexico! Trees are vital, we are near the top in tree deaths in America. We are in another drought. Please join us in prayer for rain. We still have a wildfire up north near the Colorado border and last week a wildfire broke out near Reserve.

Pray for all the firefighters that risk their lives fighting these wildfires.

The picture is of me and my Dad, Wally Moede. He served faithfully for many years on the Windom, Minnesota Fire Dept. Grandpa Chris Moede did the same in the early 1900’s. My cousin John Moede also served. I served on the Osceola, Indiana Fire Dept. back in the 80’s for 3 years. This picture had to be taken in the early 80’S.

A Fireman’s Glove

A fireman’s gloves hold many things
From elderly arms to a kids broken swing
From the hand they shake and the back they pat
To the tiny claw marks of another treed cat
At 2am they are filled with chrome
From the DUI who was on her way home
And the equipment they use to roll back the dash
From the family she involved in that crash

The brush rakes in spring, that wear the palms out
When the wind does a 90 to fill them with doubt
The thumb of the glove wipes the sweat from the brow
Of the face of a fireman who mutters What Now?

They hold an inch and three quarters flowing one twenty five
So the ones going in, come back alive
When the regulators ring; then there isn’t too much
But the bypass valve they eagerly clutch

The rescue equipment, the ropes, the C collars
The lives they saved never measured in dollars
Are the obvious things a fireman’s gloves hold
Or so that is what I’ve always been told

But there are other things those gloves do touch
Those are the things we all need so much

The hold back the rage on that 3am call
They hold in the fear when you’ve lost the wall
They hold back the pity, agony, sorrow
They hold in the desire to do it tomorrow.

A glove, just a glove till it’s on a firefighter
Who worked all day just to pull an all night’er
And into the fray they charge without fear
At the sound of help they think they hear.

Off comes the gloves when the call is done
And into the pocket until the next run
The hands become lonely and cold for a bit
And even shake just thinking of it
They’re not so brave now; their hands they can’t hind
I guess it just means they are human inside

And though some are paid and others are not
The gloves feel the same when its cold or its hot
To someone you’re helping to just get along
When you fill them with love, you always feel strong

And so when I go on my final big ride
I hope to have my gloves close by my side
To show to St. Peter at the heavenly Gates
Cause as we all know, Firefighters just don’t wait
