Saudi Leader Says Israelis Have Right to Own Land

Saudi Arabian Crown Prince , Mohammed bin Salman gave an interview with the influential Atlantic news magazine which was published on Monday as part of his tour of the US to drum up financial and political support for his plans to confront Iran and modernize his country. In response to a question during the interview about whether Jewish people have a right to a nation-state of their own he said  “I believe the Palestinians and the Israelis have the right to have their own land. But we have to have a peace agreement to assure the stability for everyone and to have normal relations.”

Netanyahu Announces, then Cancels, Deportation Plan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Monday evening that he had reached an agreement with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees which would involve approximately 16,000 African asylum seekers in Israel being re-settled in Western countries while another 23,000 would remain in Israel. Hours later however, he was forced to put the idea on hold following a torrent of outrage from his coalition partners who said they had not been consulted on the plan and were not ready to sign off on it. On Tuesday morning, he officially cancelled the plan.

US Supreme Court Upholds Dismissal of Lawsuit Against PA

The US Supreme Court issued a decision on Monday dismissing an appeal of a ruling by the Second US Circuit Court of appeals which vacated a $655.5 million terrorism judgment from February 2015 against the Palestinian Authority by a lower court. The Shurat Hadin – Israel Law Center, which led the original lawsuit on behalf of the families of 33 US citizens killed by terrorist attacks in the Second Intifada, issued a statement calling the days’ events “a horrible travesty of justice.”

Arab League Holds Meeting to Discuss Gaza Riots

The Arab League was scheduled to hold an emergency meeting Tuesday to discuss the riots last Friday on the border between Israel and the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip. The meeting is being held at the request of the Palestinian Authority, supported by Kuwait, Egypt and Jordan. Meanwhile, the rest of the international community, with the exception of a few Arab media outlets, appeared on Tuesday to be moving on to other issues.

Google Expanding Operations in Israel

Internet giant Google announced this week that it is launching a “project accelerator” in Tel Aviv to assist its global network of Start-Up firms to grow their operations, with a focus on firms involved in machine learning, artificial intelligence and data science. “Silicon Valley is the leading, most mature tech ecosystem in the world,” said Roy Glasberg, founder and general manager of the Google Global Acceleration programs and the Google AI Studio.  “But after five years of traveling the world, I came back to Israel, which is our best sandbox for experimentation.”
