House To Hear Republican Memorial Recognizing Ryan And Rebecca Holets Tomorrow
SANTA FE—Tomorrow morning, the House of Representatives will proclaim February 6, 2018 as “New Mexico’s Angels on Earth” Day to recognize the selfless efforts of Ryan and Rebecca Holets to promote adoption and drug treatment awareness.
Albuquerque Police Officer Ryan Holets, and his wife, Rebecca, gained national attention for adopting a baby from Crystal Champ, a homeless woman struggling with heroin addiction. Since the adoption, the Holets family have declined all offers of financial support for themselves. Instead, they have channeled fundraising efforts towards helping Crystal and her companion obtain drug treatment and recovery services. Ms. Champ has called Officer Holets her “personal angel on earth” for his determined work to connect her with treatment services.
“Ryan and Rebecca are real-life guardian angels who see the dignity and worth of every human life,” said Rep. Rebecca Dow (R-Truth or Consequences), the sponsor of House Memorial 57. “While it’s easy to focus on the negative events taking place in our state, it’s important to celebrate these extraordinary cases of generosity and hope. The Holets family serves as a model for each of us to help our neighbors in need.”
The proclamation will be read during the morning floor session in the House of Representatives. Officer Holets and his wife will be present, and many representatives will recognize other New Mexican adoption or drug treatment advocates. The session is scheduled to begin at 10:30 A.M.
