RRT Chaplains Praying with Man

Hurricane Alert: An Army of Hope

Dear Friend,

After Hurricane Harvey smashed into Texas and inundated Houston with over 50 inches of water during a 100-year flood, 112 crisis-trained chaplains went pouring into the devastated areas including shelters and evacuation centers. These men and women are praying with people, ministering to them in their time of need, and sharing the hope that can be found only in Jesus Christ.

As I write this and we prayerfully watch Irma approach Florida, I’m amazed and thankful for what God is doing in the aftermath of Harvey. Our chaplains have already prayed with and ministered to more than 5,000 people, and 141 people have been “delivered … from the domain of darkness and transferred … to the kingdom of his beloved Son” and they now “have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13–14, ESV). While this storm disrupted their lives in a major way and destroyed so much, their hearts were open to the truth of God’s message and they made that life-changing decision. Now their souls have been saved for eternity.

In the midst of the storm—and the storm recovery—we are at work spreading the Gospel. As we wait to see what Irma does, we have another army of chaplains on standby, ready to go into Florida. Please pray for those in Florida who are in harm’s way and for those who have lost everything across the Caribbean. It will be a long road to restoration.

We need your help and prayers as we deploy these trained chaplains from across the country. We provide meals and housing while they volunteer their time, working in difficult situations. Pray for them that God will give them the answers to people’s questions in the midst of their sorrow and despair.

Thank you and may God richly bless you,
