Dear Pastor & Mrs. Dewey Moede,

Hello, I hope you are doing well.  I am writing to share with you my plans and opportunities taking place over the next few months.

This May I will be graduating from high school!  I have been homeschooled my whole life and I am blessed to have my parents as my teachers.  I am especially grateful for everything I have learned in school.  Even though I am graduating, I hope to continuously learn and share my knowledge with others throughout my lifetime.

I am also excited to say that I am testing for my 1st Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo!  I have been training in Taekwondo for over six years and this will be my biggest test yet.  Studying martial arts has made a great impact on my life.  For that, I am extremely thankful to God.  I have been inspired to further my studies in college in the field of health, fitness, nutrition and wellbeing.  I also hope to someday start a unique corporation that branches out into different services that will help people.

In June, I am being called to go on a mission trip with other members of our church to Juárez, México where we will build a house for a family in need.  Juárez is located just south of the U.S. border in México.  Our safety is at a higher risk in this area.  Our mission team will have to be extra cautious while working there.  We will spend our nights at a local church in Juárez.  Our team will be partnering with Casas por Cristo (www.casasporcristo.org).  They have have been working in Juárez and its community since 1993.  Casas por Cristo also takes mission trips to Acuña, México, Raymundo, Guatemala, and to the Santiago, Dominican Republic area.  It will be a lot of work for the small team we have, although I have no problem with doing more work.  It is completely worth it when you are serving the Lord and showing others how incredible He really is.  I am responsible for raising my portion of $350 to help cover the following:

  • The trip and my basic necessities

  • Materials and tools to build the home

  • Transportation

  • Meals while in México

  • Lodging

  • Gifts for the family receiving the home

  • Travelers Health Insurance

I am really looking forward to going and helping spread hope and faith to others.

This mission trip will be a little bit different from the local missions I serve in, given that this will be my first international mission trip, encountering a new culture, as well as being my first trip to México.

Lastly, in July, I plan on attending a Christian youth high school conference named CIY (Christ In Youth) Move (www.ciy.com/move) in Durango, Colorado at Fort Lewis College.  CIY Move is a 5-day event held every Summer all over the country designed to amplify the call of Christ on students’ lives to become Kingdom workers.  Several thousands of students attend this event every year nationwide.  We worship, dive into scripture, help each other out, play games, and more!  The conference is like nothing else I have ever experienced.  The feeling we have when we return home is incredible.  Your heart feels weightless, your mind is amazingly calm, and you feel so close to God – as well as new and stronger relationships with others.  I need to raise $350 to pay for the conference, meals during the travel to and from the college, and my basic necessities.  This will be my 5th and final year attending as a student.  Every year that I have attended has been absolutely great!  During this trip I hope to grow closer to God, and become more Christlike, as well as helping others do the same.

I would like for you to be apart of these efforts.  A way you can support me is through prayer.  If you would like to help support me financially in these endeavors, I have provided a self-addressed envelope.  Whether you feel led to contribute financially, through prayer, or both, please know that I really appreciate all of your support.

I will be sending a letter to you around mid-late Summer of this year letting you know how all of these events went.

I am eager to see what God has planned for everyone and myself involved in all of these events.  Thank you very much for taking the time to read this letter.  I will be praying for you and for the best for everything in your life.

Most respectfully,

Jacob Snelgrove
