People may be pure in their own eyes, but the Lord examines their motives. Proverbs 16:2
What may look great to others, can be wrong in God’s eyes, because He knows our heart. We often fool ourselves, but it’s impossible to fool The Lord. Even doing good works, or sharing our wealth with others can be displeasing to Jesus, if we are doing it for the wrong reasons! If our motivation is to bring attention or praise to ourselves, to look good to others, to get a tax deduction, or to soothe our conscience from guilt…our efforts are a total waste of time. Only the things done out of a true desire to serve & glorify Jesus are right in God’s perfect sight.
