It’s Not About You…Angel’s Prayer of The Day

I loved Stephen Lewis post this morning You My Friend Can Be Used By God on www.fggam.org. That is so true. It made me think of a writing I wrote some time ago Good News- Bad News. I thought I would change it around a bit and rename it today It’s Not About You.

Today, let’s thank God for using ordinary people to do exploits for His Kingdom.

I know I use this scripture often, but it’s one that I like a lot. It helps me remember that I can’t do anything apart from Christ. I can do things beyond what I could ever think or imagine for Christ thru Him. The most important aspect of it- it’s all for His glory. That my friend, He will not share with anyone.

Zechariah 4:6 It’s Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, says the LORD of hosts.

I have a dear friend I like to refer to as my Titus mentor. I get so filled with excitement with God flowing thru me at times and things happening in ministry, I want to tell the whole world. Julie would always say Angel you can’t do anything apart from Christ. It’s Him doing it; you are just a vessel to be used by God to flow thru. I would assure her, I knew that. Then she would always say Angel, now all the glory goes to God, you get none. I would respond with a yes, yes Julie I know, but I am excited that God would use me. Who am I, just an ordinary person that the creator of the universe would choose to use. Then we would talk about how God used a donkey in the Bible. (Number 22:28) Now that keeps you pretty humble.

I spoke several months ago now at Aglow International right here in the star city of Presque Isle, Maine. A good friend Laurie sang a song prior to my speaking Stand By Me. She changed some words to make it a gospel song. She said Angel I haven’t sang for a while and I am a bit nervous. I said well I am a little nervous too. Then we both said- it’s not about us. We were just being obedient to our King.

Yesterday, I traveled north to Van Buren, Maine and they actually have stars painted on their sidewalks there. My friend Jeanne Theriault was speaking and she is starting a community outreach there. She is a gifted woman of God. You can read her posts on www.fggam.org as well. I stopped at a garage sale that had a sign that got my attention (I don’t stop at garage sales usually, but the 75 percent off seemed like I needed to be there.) I wanted a CD player for ten dollars and asked for a CD to try it out. My heart skipped a beat as he brought out two CD’s one with the song Stand By Me.

I met up with my daughter Brooke and we loaded my Toyota with some precious cargo, my grandson Mr. Emmett. He came to spend a day or two. All the way to grandma’s house we sang Stand By Me.

This year are you available to God first? Are you willing to put His agenda on top of yours? Just some questions to ponder. He wants to do exploits thru you. Yes, You.

Remember it’s not about you and who gets all the glory? Jesus. Thank you Julie for teaching me this principle many years ago.

Let’s Pray:

Father, thank you for using ordinary people just like us. We want to do our part in building your Kingdom. Today, for the people we meet that don’t know you, help them to see the light in us. Even if we can only share our smile, we pray Lord that smile will minister to them. A handshake, a kind word, let it flow from our hearts we pray.

Give us God assignments today. As we are obedient with the little things you will trust us with more.

At the end of the day, when it’s all said and done and we give you all the glory; May you say well done my faithful servant. If we failed in some way, may you show us the error of our way and tomorrow we will begin again. There is nothing greater than journeying every day with you, Jesus.

Let the whole world know today, you are for them. Amen

Have A Blessed Day Beautiful People, For this is the Day the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.
