By virtue of its geographic location, Turkey has received the largest number of migrants from Syria and is a major transit route for those fleeing from Iraq and Afghanistan. It has therefore emerged as a key partner in the EU’s struggle to contend with the migration crisis. But Turkey itself is facing multiple crises.
