Feds unlock iPhone, drop Apple lawsuit

The Justice Department is withdrawing its lawsuit against Apple directing the tech giant to unlock an iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters.

The impending move comes shortly after the government canceled the first hearing in the case, saying that the FBI may have found a way to break into the phone without Apple’s help.

The DOJ told the court Monday that the method proved successful, giving authorities access to the data on the phone used by Syed Rizwan Farook, one of two shooters who killed 14 people in the San Bernardino, Calif., terrorist attack.
