Here is an email I just received…….

Dear Dewey,
The latest effort to promote public health and safety through government nannyism comes from no other local government than the one sitting in our nation’s capital. A regulatory panel in Washington, D.C. could soon vote to create a new set of licensing rules for personal trainers.

That’s right, just as personal training is exploding as an industry, local government wants to step in and control it. The exact rules the panel wants to implement are still unclear, but all personal trainers would be required to register with the mayor’s office and pay a yet-to-be-determined fee. One early draft would require all personal trainers to have a four-year degree.

There’s even talk of the regulatory scheme for trainers in D.C. serving as a model for states to adopt.
