Iran Deal Sealed as Democrats Block Final Attempt at Senate Vote

US Congress (Wikipedia)Democrats in the US Senate blocked a third and final attempt to hold a vote on legislation to reject the JCPOA, despite polls showing a large majority of American voters wanted the vote to proceed and agree with the majority in both chambers of Congress who oppose the deal. About the time the vote was taking place, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was telling reporters that his confrontations with US President Barak Obama over the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran’s renegade nuclear program served Israel’s interests, despite the ultimate result, and did not damage relations between Israel and the US as his many critics contend. “I think I know how to navigate Israel’s relations, how to defend our state, and we are defending it, both against outside challenges and on the borders,” he said.
