AND YOUR PURPOSE IS??????

Why are you here?  What’s your mission in life?  It is my deepest prayer that our few moments together will be an encouragement to us, but yet challenge us to serve the Lord Jesus Christ in a great way.

What’s your mission?  Why are you on this planet?  Remember, even Jesus had a mission.  We read in Luke 4 verses 18 and 19 that Jesus read from the Old Testament book of Isaiah which says, “the spirit of the Lord is on me because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor.  He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”   He added, ‘today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Jesus also stated his mission in Matthew 20:28, saying, “the son of man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many”

Jesus had a mission.  To serve and give His life on the cross to cover our sins and extent to us the gift of eternal life.

What’s your mission?  Why are you here?  Everyone is on a mission.  I believe our mission in life is three fold.

First…to love the Lord our God with all our body mind soul and spirit.  That is, to give ourselves 100 per cent to learning as much about God as we can and to put Him first in our lives.  Matthew 6:33 states, “seek first the kingdom of God and all these others things will be added to you”.  Give God your best and your all not the leftovers.

Secondly, Jesus said, to “love your neighbor” as yourself.  We are to follow the example of Jesus in His mission of serving and not being served.  Look around. There are people all around us who are in need of our attention and care.  People who are hurting, lonely, depressed, filled with worry and anxiety.  We are here to love and serve. Mother Teresa once said, “everyone around us is Jesus in disguise”.

Thirdly, I believe, our mission is follow the command of Jesus in Matthew 28:19, where he tells us “go into all the world and make disciples”.  We are to interest people in Him and His teachings. That is the great commission.  He didn’t call us to “plant churches”, but “make disciples”.  Tell people YOUR story.  How did you become a Christian?  What impact has Jesus had on your life, your family, your work, your ministry?

The great commandment to love the Lord Your God with all your heart.  The great commission…as you journey in your life, tell others of Jesus Christ and disciple them into knowing more about the good news of the our Lord.  He came and lived in the flesh, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead the 3rd day and yes, someday HE is coming back.

Let us remind each other that our mission, our purpose is to love God, love others, and tell everyone about the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.  That’s our purpose.  Let’s all be about the King’s business.
