The IDF announced Thursday evening that Highway 12, leading from the center of the country to the Red Sea resort city of Eilat, would be temporarily closed on Friday due to fighting in the neighboring Sinai Peninsula. The local franchise of the Islamic State (IS) terror militia carried out a series of bold and sophisticated attacks against Egyptian military and security forces in Sinai over recent days, even managing to seize equipment which would make them a serious threat to civilian traffic on the road, according to an IDF assessment.
