National Pro-Life leaders were released from jail after being arrested at House Speaker John Boehner’s office.

Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue released the following statement shorty after being released from jail, “John Boehner just made it crystal clear that he has no regard for the pro-life movement.  We were at his office to demand that he schedule a vote on the 20-week abortion ban that turncoat Rep. Renee Ellmers torpedoed a few weeks ago.  But rather than speaking with us, Speaker Boehner opted to have us arrested and thrown in prison!  I’ve been saying for years that we can’t let these Washington politicians fight our battles for us, and this is exactly why.  When the time comes for them to stand on principle, cowards like John Boehner don’t just run from the fight.  They shoot us in the back as they flee.  It’s absolutely imperative that we keep fighting in spite of this assault. We must continue standing in the gap for innocent pre-born children when John Boehner and his allies won’t.”

Interview with Jill Stanek on the protest: “People don’t seem to have a sense of urgency. [PRAYER is] what sets us apart from other protests. We are Christians first, called to defend the defenseless and be a voice for the voiceless. This isn’t a Sharpton-esque sort of venture; we are entering into this with a lot of thought and prayer.”
