Israelis are preparing to celebrate the Biblical Feast of Rosh Hashana Wednesday evening, bringing in year 5775 on the Jewish Calender. Thousands of families will share the traditional holiday foods including apples and honey, pomegranates other favorites, while blowing the Shofar rams horn to usher in the new year. Meanwhile, hundreds of extra police officers were deployed to the capital and around the country in anticipation of the usual rise in tensions ahead of the holiday, with police spokesman Mickey Rosenfeld saying “Police will ensure the safety of all visitors to the Old City throughout the holiday and prevent any incidents from taking place that will disturb them from peacefully observing Rosh Hashana.” Read More
