Bless the Lord

What does it mean to bless the Lord?

How can God be anymore blessed? After all HE is God. He owns it all. Has it all. Lacking Nothing. So how can we bless the Lord?

That’s it! When we bless the Lord, then we proclaim that He is blessed. Not only that, when we bless Him we are giving praise and thanksgiving to Him. Exalting Him and worshiping Him. Less of me and more of Him.

“Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!blessthelord
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” (Psalm 103:1-5 NKJV)

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3 NKJV).

The best time to bless the Lord (aka Praise the Lord) is when we least feel like it.

I’m having a rough week this week. I want to thank all of you who are praying for me. I was at the ER last Friday night for severe abdominal pain and after all sorts of extensive testing, the results showed nothing wrong. I continue to have upper abdominal pain that feels like it shoots through to my back after each meal. I’m very uncomfortable. To top it off, since moving to El Paso, I have never sought out a primary care physician. So I do not have a doctor. And when I was discharged from the ER Saturday morning, I was instructed to follow up with a gastroenterologist. Well those appointments are not readily available and require a referral. So after three days of working to set up appointments, I felt at my wits end.

But then…I began to sing, “Bless the Lord O my soul…” and quoting the Scripture above. Finally, I have an appointment with a doctor of internal medicine on Friday to get the ball rolling. And while I was at making appointments, I made other medical appointments for next week that I’ve been putting off for over five years. I do appreciate your prayers and I ask you to keep lifting up the prayers.

I will continue to bless the Lord. Please join me in singing to bless the Lord. I leave you with the song I’ve been singing today:

Blessings to you all!
