Israeli security forces reported that two mortars were fired into Israel from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip even before the cease-fire officially ended at 8 AM Friday, despite Israel’s stated desire to extend the cease-fire and allow negotiations to continue. Several more rockets were fired into Israel from Gaza in the hours following the expiration of the truce, while Israel waited until nearly 11 AM to launch a response.
