One With Him

I have been thinking on this scripture:

John 14:20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you.

It reminds me of tea. When you make a cup of tea, you pour the boiling water over the tea bag and immediately, it begins to change color. The longer you steep the teabag, the darker the water becomes….the more it becomes tea….in color, flavor….completely tea.

1Corinthians 6:17 But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

When we receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour, something similar to the tea analogy happens. We become complete in Him at that very moment. All we ever need is placed in us.

Colossians 2:9,10 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete (full, whole, perfect) in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

Almighty God chose to leave His throne and come live as a human, then take our punishment, die,  and be raised again, all because He loves us. Then, to restore us to a right relationship with Him, chose to dwell in us when we ask Him to. That blows my mind! What a God! What a Saviour! What a Hero!

2 Corinthians 4:7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

He made us to be one with Him and as we grow in Him by the renewing of our minds, we are transformed into His likeness that we may show Him to a hurting and dying world.

1John 4:17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.

2 Corinthians 1:21,22 Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Ephesians 1:13 In Him you also trusted, after you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom also, having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise.

To seal means to be marked to show ownership or authenticity and to fasten or close something tightly. I have heard our being sealed with the Holy Spirit in our spirit compared to a process in canning foods. We seal the jar with wax to prevent impurities from getting in. We are sealed and shown, or marked to be His.

In John 3, Nicodemas sought Jesus out because he saw that Jesus came from God. Jesus talked to him about being born-again, which is a spiritual process. Nicodemas couldn’t figure out how a person could be reborn.

Romans 10:9,10 That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him up from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Next week, we will delve further into this great mystery. Cup of tea anyone?
