Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas presided over a swearing in ceremony on Monday for a government of national unity for the Palestinians approved by his own Fatah faction and the Islamist terror militia Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip. The Ministers of the new government are officially technocrats with no political affiliation, and they were sworn in despite an announcement by Hamas officials Monday morning that they were not satisfied with the make-up of the new government.
