Albuquerque, NM- ABQ Voters For Late Term Abortion Ban has been leading a strong religious outreach campaign to get out the vote in local ABQ churches. The Christian community is energized and motivated to cast their votes to see late term abortion end in our city. Our campaign has put a special emphasis on Hispanic churches.

In a recent poll by the ABQ Journal, Hispanics broke the Democratic party line in support of the 20 week abortion ban that ABQ city voters are currently casting ballots on. “As a Hispanic woman and a Pastor I saw the need for a narrowly focused Hispanic community “get out the vote” campaign because our families are overwhelmingly pro-life, this is a very integral part of our lives and faith traditions, for people to say otherwise is a lie,” stated Grace Lardizabal, Hispanic Outreach Coordinator.

Our efforts have included going to churches one by one educating Pastors about the late term abortion problem here locally and what they as leaders in the Spanish community can do to encourage votes “FOR” the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Ordinance. As part of our effort to reach out to the Hispanic voting population in ABQ we have purchased a large sum of radio ads on Lajefa Radio and Kiss FM. We plan to purchase more next week. We have also purchased nearly two pages worth of ads in the next issue of El Semanario, the cities only Spanish newspaper.

ABQ Voters For Late Term Abortion Ban is working aggressively through education among the Hispanic and Spanish speaking population in an effort to bring in these constituents that we are confident will help us win this election.

“With less than 2 weeks until the landmark election to ban late term abortions in ABQ, we are so grateful to be coming alongside the Hispanic community of faith to get out the vote. The people in ABQ are ready for a change, a life affirming change, where we protect the most vulnerable among us,” stated Tara Shaver, Chair.
