The fight over Bible banners at high school football games in southeast Texas will continue.

A district judge had ruled that the banners inscribed with Bible verses are not forbidden by the U.S. Constitution, but the Kountze School District is appealing that ruling.

Officials want to know if Kountze High School cheerleaders have a “free speech” right to include the Bible messages.

They say the original ruling did not make that clear.

District lawyer Tom Brandt claims the cheerleaders’ legal team “are reading into the court’s decision rights that just aren’t there.”

Liberty Institute’s Hiram Sasser says he’s amazed the school district has chosen to continue fighting cheerleaders who simply want to encourage the players with their banners.
