Albuquerque, NM- “How could anyone do that?” This was the response of a stripper as she was leaving an Albuquerque strip club where Protest ABQ had the Truth Truck parked.

Protest ABQ was conducting its weekly “Overpass Protest” which happens to have a pedestrian entrance in the same parking lot of a local strip club. With the Truth Truck parked right out front in conjunction with banners and abortion victim signs on the overpass during rush hour traffic…Protest ABQ was able to simultaneously conduct two Protests!

As the stripper pulled out of the parking lot and drove slowly past the Truth Truck, she put her car in reverse, backed up and rolled down her window to ask us about the Late-Term abortion victim on the Truth Truck. We were able to talk to her about Late-Term abortion. She was shocked to find out that Albuquerque, NM was the Late-Term abortion Capital of America and that people come here from all across the country (and the WORLD) to kill their children through all nine months of pregnancy…”Shut the F*$% UP,” she gasped! “How could anyone do that?”

You don’t normally think of strippers as having a very high moral standard, but apparently it’s not “rocket science” to understand that Late-Term Abortion is just wrong!

Ironically as we interact with politicians, city and state officials and even religious leaders who claim to have some “moral authority” over this city and state, they just don’t seem to get it! At the end of the day, it simply comes down to a heart issue. This interaction with the stripper reminds me of Jesus’ interaction with the, “woman at the well” (John 4:1-42). Jesus didn’t have to argue with her about right and wrong…she got it and God used her in a mighty way in her community! If only our politicians and religious leaders would respond similarly when confronted with this grave injustice in our community.

I am thankfully reminded by this interaction of how effective our public protests are in impacting people. Being in the community on a weekly basis and driving the Truth Truck around you can forget that every person is witnessing the reality of abortion in a way that they have never seen before, and that as a result, their minds are forever imprinted with the reality of what abortion does to children.

Here are articles highlighting Protest ABQ efforts this month:

Protest ABQ Exposes UNM’s Dirty Little Secret

Sen. Pino (D), “Is it Okay to Kill a 7 lb. Baby?”

“New Mexico, is it OK to kill a 7lb baby?” Bud Shaver of Protest ABQ is Dewey’s Guest.

Protest ABQ is a peaceful awareness campaign launched to educate and stand against the injustice of abortion through a strategic and sustained presence. Protest ABQ strives to educate Albuquerque and New Mexico residents on what abortion really is and what it looks like. While Protest ABQ is opposed to abortion and seeks the reversal of Roe v. Wade and its progeny, Protest ABQ acknowledges that it must do all it can to protect the lives, health, and safety of vulnerable women who are subjected to an abortion and to protect and preserve the life of the unborn child.
