“PACK LIKE YOU’RE MOVING”

                                                     By Stephen Young steven

Proverbs 3:21-26: Dear friend, guard Clear Thinking and Common Sense with your life; don’t for a minute lose sight of them. 22 They’ll keep your soul alive and well, they’ll keep you fit and attractive. 23 You’ll travel safely, you’ll neither tire nor trip. 24 You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry, you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. 25 No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, 26 Because God will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound. (THE MESSAGE)

As most of you know, if not all of you, Kristen and I are in the process of selling our home and moving to Georgia. It wasn’t long ago that it seemed like nothing was moving. No one was inquiring about our house; everything seemed to be at a standstill. We were sharing this with a good friend of ours and the statement he made to us was, “You need to pack like you’re moving.” He then began to share a story from his life. It was time for us to pack as an act of faith. Even though we didn’t have a buyer for the house or even someone inquiring about the house, we needed to start to pack like we did. So, the very next day we started to pack like we were moving, we starting putting things up for sale that we weren’t going to need and we took a step of faith and began to pack like we were moving. It was just a few weeks after that point that we had a buyer for our home.

As I was driving to work one day that statement came back to mind, “pack like you’re moving,” and I began to think about that. As Christians, as people that proclaim that we are moving forward in the things of God, we need to pack like we are moving. What does that mean? It means that even though your circumstances make look dead, everything may appear to be at a standstill, you need to keep moving forward, by faith, towards the things God has for you. This Scripture above tells us the key things we need to pack as we travel this journey, clear thinking and common sense. Don’t lose sight of them, you’ll travel safely, you won’t tire or trip. You’ll take afternoon naps without a worry; you’ll enjoy a good night’s sleep. No need to panic over alarms or surprises, or predictions that doomsday’s just around the corner, because God will be right there with you; he’ll keep you safe and sound. Pack like you’re moving!

Those two things, clear thinking and common sense are areas that the enemy loves to try to come in and bring confusion. If he can mess with your thinking, if he can make your thinking cloudy then it affects your common sense. You began thinking in ways that are contrary to the promises and plan that God has for your life. As you move forward in this journey, it’s crucial, it’s vital that you pack clear thinking and common sense in your spiritual luggage. Yes, there are other things you need to bring along with you but without these two items, the rest become ineffective.

So, are you moving forward? Are you determined that you will step into the destiny God has for you? Then go ahead, pack like you’re moving!

Blessing ~ Steve
