FGGAM NEWS just received this from the NM House Republican Caucus:

Democrat Lawmakers Resort to Fear-Mongering, Extreme Rhetoric During Driver’s License Debate

Last night, House Republicans passed a compromise bill that will end the dangerous practice of giving driver’s licenses to illegal immigrants and provide New Mexicans with a secure ID. And while it passed on a bipartisan vote, some Democrat lawmakers resorted to fear-mongering and extreme rhetoric in an attempt to scare the public. This included shameful comparisons to slavery, indentured servitude, and the Holocaust. Take a look:

·      Democrat Rep. Javier Martinez made an outrageous statement on Facebook when he compared slavery to the compromise proposal saying, “For hundreds of years our legal system legitimized and sanctioned slavery and discrimination throughout the country. Today, House Republicans and Governor Martinez seek to legitimize discrimination against undocumented immigrants through their proposed legislation.”

·      Democrat Rep. Moe Maestas made an entirely inappropriate Holocaust remark when he said the legislation could result in people being put “in boxcars and take them somewhere that they don’t want to go.”

·      Democrat Rep. Miguel Garcia also made an over-the-top and heinous slavery reference when he said the proposal would make “indentured servants” out of illegal immigrants in New Mexico.
