A federal judge in Texas handed down sentences to six defendants for laundering millions of Zeta drug cartel money by buying, training, breeding, stabling, and racing quarter horses in New Mexico and other states.

Over 400 quarter horses were seized and sold for over $9 million as part of the settlement, and the government further seeks a penalty of $60 million.
