“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead.”
—Philippians 3:12–14
Oh my goodness! I think we have more important things to deal with than reaming New Mexico for heaven’s sake! How about ending abortions in America??!!! How about the poverty in New Mexico? I pray that the DEMS and GOP will deal with the issues that are hurting so many New Mexicans.
President Donald J. Trump, by wanting to change the name of the state of New Mexico, just handed the DEMS a huge campaign issue that is in their favor. I would think that the Republican Party of New Mexico (“RPNM”) is not in favor of this…just my guess. The people of New Mexico take great pride in the name of their state.

ABQ RAW reports that on Labor Day weekend, President Donald J. Trump posted on the social media site, Truth Social, the idea of renaming New Mexico to ‘New America’. It had the word Mexico crossed out with America above it. It caught the ire of many New Mexicans and New Mexican politicians; however, Trump does NOT have the power to rename a state.
According to the 10th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, Article IV, Section 3, Clause 1 (The Admissions Clause), “no new State shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.” More Here

According to SNOPES [https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/rename-new-mexico-to-new-america/] and MSN [https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/other/president-trump-sparks-debate-with-new-america-map-post/ar-AA2bHx3B], the posting on Truth Social about ‘New America’ was a re-post from one or more satirical sites. The fact that New Mexico politicians would respond as if it were automatically true is not only humorous in and of itself, but shows a certain lack of sophistication and due diligence – or the willingness to say anything if it is viewed as politically negative regarding the president.
