KRQE News 13 (Albuquerque, NM) reports that testimony continued in the federal trial against Sheryl Williams Stapleton, a longtime state representative and Albuquerque Public Schools administrator, who is facing dozens of criminal charges and is accused of stealing millions of dollars from taxpayers.
While most of the day was spent combing through invoices and email exchanges, one of Stapleton’s former colleagues admitted she was nervous to be testifying before abruptly saying, “This whole thing ruined my life; she ruined my reputation.” And while those words from APS administrator Abigail Manzanares were stricken from the record, the feeling of shock hung over the room.
