KOAT 7 News (Albuquerque, NM) reports that New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez is planning to sue the Children, Youth & Families Department (“CYFD”) following a year-long investigation by the New Mexico Department of Justice (“NMDOJ”) which uncovered severe child safety issues and asserted that CYFD abused the state’s confidentiality laws in order to cover up failures.
New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham stated earlier this year that she regretted signing state legislation in 2019, following passage of the federal Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (“CARA”) in 2016, allowing children to be returned to parents and bypassing CYFD. Accordingly, the governor signed an executive order last summer (2025) directing the state to begin removing drug-addicted infants from their parents and putting them into CYFD’s custody.

My brothers and sisters, Pastor Dewey Moede has been publishing articles and related commentary regarding the manner in which CYFD has been operated over a period of many years. Hopefully, this lawsuit, sadly but necessarily happening by a state agency against another state agency, will be filed and produce the fruit of necessary reform.
Lives depend upon it; it’s too late for some.
A reminder from the scriptures:
Matthew 18:10 (Amplified Bible)
[Jesus tells the disciples] “See that you do not despise or think less of one of these little ones [children], for I say to you that their angels in heaven [are in the presence of and] continually look upon the face of My Father who is in heaven.”
