We grieve hard because we love hard. I am very thankful for the ministry of Gary Roe. Gary’s material has helped me help so many people.
I wrote this on Facebook this past Friday:
“Today was a very, very sad day. A funeral service for a newborn. So many people came to show their love for the family. A funeral for a baby is so very, very hard for everyone. Very heartbreaking for mommy and daddy. I will keep in touch with the family. Part of my message was on grieving. I was blessed to be one of three Pastors to officiate the service, A Greek Orthodox Pastor, A Legacy Church Pastor and myself. It was wonderful for me to see such unity. I pray for more unity like I witnessed today. The precious baby brought us all together.”
Gary Roe:
Loss is terribly painful. The grief journey can be very challenging.
Here’s another Grief Affirmation for you.
If I have trouble focusing, I’ll remember that this loss is hitting my mind too. I’ll practice trusting God and accepting myself in the present moment.
Loss hits our whole being, including our minds.
We’re not as sharp mentally. Focus is more difficult. Brain fog and mental fatigue are common. Our memory is affected.
All this can be frustrating, confusing, and scary.
Please know that nothing strange is going on. You’re grieving.
As you embrace the grief and express it in healthy ways, you will heal, recover, and even grow. Healing takes time. Be patient with yourself.
Fear not. Bring your cares and concerns to the One who knows all – the One who created you and sustains you. He is sufficient for everything you will face today.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8)
Lord, I accept that grief is affecting my brain. I choose to trust You with these mental challenges. Fill me with Yourself and empower me to live for You today. I rest in You. You are my sufficiency. In Jesus’ name…
Be kind to yourself today.
Until next time,
Gary
