Fox News reports that U.S. Senator John K. Fetterman (D-PA), once a ‘progressive darling’, seems to no longer have the support of Democrats, with many turning on him following a scathing report titled “All By Himself” and published by the New York magazine Intelligencer, which focused on his health.

Fetterman’s recovery following a May 2022 stroke has been remarkable, that is, up until recently, when Fetterman became a strong supporter of Israel in its existential battle with Hamas (and by extension, the Houthis, Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic of Iran)!  Fox News is reporting that “staffers past and present say they no longer recognize the man they once knew.”

My brothers and sisters, how convenient it is to abandon and ostracize a fellow political party member when his or her views don’t 100% fall in line with the party’s mantra.  Critical thinking seems to be lost on society nowadays.  Loyalty is often a laudable attribute, but blind loyalty, especially when such is harmful or runs contrary to one’s conscience (i.e., the voice of the Holy Spirit within those who follow Jesus), is not something to be proud of and may represent evil.

FGGAM Pastor and Founder Dewey Moede reports that politics, when running amok and without seeking the wisdom of God, is often ‘the playground of Satan’.

The Fetterman situation shows that godly love (if it is really in play at all) runs very thin in political circles.  This is clearly evidenced in the current political environment of the United States, whether by Democrats almost mindlessly pushing the entire party to unreasonable and ungodly left-wing or progressive policy positions or Republicans of the MAGA persuasion pushing the entire party to not-always-well-thought-out and blindly loyal policy positions (e.g., the POTUS’ seeming indifference between the aggressor nation, Russia, and the attacked and victimized nation, Ukraine).

I’ve published the following scriptures several times lately, but they speak to my spirit strongly about what is happening on all sides, politically, in our world right now.

As the Bible tells us, we should pray that we would never consider ourselves more highly than we ought (even if we are leaders of nations):

Romans 12:3 (Amplified Bible)
“For by the grace [of God] given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of himself [and of his importance and ability] than he ought to think; but to think so as to have sound judgment, as God has apportioned to each a degree of faith [and a purpose designed for service].”

The Bible reminds us that, politically or otherwise, if we ‘lay traps’ to dishonor or pretend to support others solely for personal gain or political power, instead of acting in godly love and for the greater good, we risk falling into our own misguided, self-serving or evil traps and devices:

Ecclesiastes 10:8 (Amplified Bible)
“He who digs a pit [for others] may fall into it, and a serpent may bite him who breaks through a [stone] wall.”

The Bible also makes it clear that the richest, most influential or loudest person in the room, regardless of party affiliation, is not necessarily the one speaking godly wisdom:

Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 (NKJV)
“Then I said:  ‘[w]isdom is better than strength.  Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, [a]nd his words are not heard.  Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard [r]ather than the shout of a ruler of fools.  Wisdom is better than weapons of war; [b]ut one sinner destroys much good.’”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
